About Our Store
Our goal is to be a resource for useful retail merchandise and services for our community. We carry a full line of hardware items, gifts, house wares, clothing, toys, furniture and lawn and garden products. We do our best to offer environmentally friendly alternatives and to provide quality customer service.
A Brief History of City People's
1979 November - The first City People's Mercantile, and 800 square foot retail store, is opened. The store grows and eventually moves into a 10,000 square foot space on Capital Hill.
1988 - City People's Garden Store opens. It is a full service nursery and also carries gifts and furniture. There is a Landscape Division that offers landscape design, maintenance and installation.
1990 - A City People's Mercantile in Fremont opens.
1998 August - Our current City People's Mercantile store located on Sand Point Way opens.
1998 October - City People's Central Resources is created. Central Resources leases warehouse space and inventories furniture and other large purchases for both the Garden and Mercantile stores.
